Nintendo announces GTA: Chinatown Wars

During Nintendo's keynote address, the company carjacked the audience's attention, announcing that Grand Theft Auto is coming to the DS. Titled GTA: Chinatown Wars, little is known about the game, save for that it will feature a new game engine, characters, and the series' standard sandbox-style gameplay.

EA Extends Take-Two Offer

New is that EA has extended the deadline for Take-Two interactives offer for the takeover.

The Board is committed to maximizing stockholder value and is exploring all strategic alternatives to do so. Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., said today that Grand Theft Auto IV has surpassed all-time entertainment records for day one and week one sales by dollar value. Released on Tuesday, April 29th, Grand Theft Auto IV, the critically acclaimed video game, has sold through to consumers approximately 6 million units globally with an estimated retail value of more than $500 million in the first week. Grand Theft Auto IV sold approximately 3.6 million units on its opening day with a retail value of approximately $310 million globally.

Grand Theft Auto IV Playstation 3 patch available now

Rockstar Games has released a GTA IV patch for Playstation 3 today that prevents Gamespy’s servers from being overloaded and therefore reduces the impact on those servers that were causing the game to stutter and lock up.

GTA IV drove PS3 console sales, says SCEA.

Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that the demand for Grand Theft Auto IV drove sales of the PlayStation 3 entertainment system within the first 24 hours of the game's release.

The company did not release any specific sales figures, however.

Instead, it provided a statement from Bob McKenzie, GameStop's senior VP of merchandising.

Grand Theft Auto stabbing disputed.

The storm over a stabbing outside a Croydon games store that was selling Grand Theft Auto may turn out to be a media panic.

Early reports suggested a 23-year-old man was stabbed by a hooded man waiting with 100 others in line outside Gamestation store in Croydon, which began selling the new grand Theft Auto game at midnight.
